The neighborhood of Southwood is a bit less known than it’s next door neighbor….west Torrance, but it offers an almost identical look, feel and quality of life. Located just east of south Redondo and very close to the ocean, these wonderful neighborhoods offer a more moderate climate than neighborhoods even just slightly farther east and enjoys cool ocean breezes throughout the summer.
Southwood is the small neighborhood wedged between South and West Torrance and just east of Redondo Beach. It offers tree lined streets with mostly original, but remodeled, homes built in the 40’s and 50’s with some newly built, and much larger homes scattered through the area. There are an abundance of parks and most schools are within a short walk. This lends itself to a very community oriented feeling.
Southwood Torrance consists primarily of single family homes with one major exception being the beautiful 55+ senior condo complex of Village Court at 21345 Hawthorne Blvd.
